Public Safety Review Committee's
SOUTH WEST PILOT PROJECT

Welcome to the
South West Pilot Project Website

The South West Public Safety Region Inc. (SWPSR) was incorporated as a non-profit organization under the Corporations Act of Saskatchewan on April 20, 2011.

Since the October 21, 2010 decision by the SWMGC to move forward with the new model for addressing public safety needs in the region, much has been going on.

To start the process, members of the SWMGC Task Team sent out a formal request for volunteers to form the South West’s new committee.  The request was sent out online, via email and in print.   There was a great response to this request and in early 2011 the 7 nominees (including a representative from the First Nations community) became official volunteers, forming the new South West body for safety.  On January 18, 2011 SWMGC meeting, these volunteers were then introduced, either in person or in print, and a date was set for the first meeting of this newly formed group.

The inaugural meeting took place on Feb. 7, 2011 with the volunteers and the dedicated CPSP member.  To ensure the volunteers have an adequate background, the group went through some initial learning on the concept of the PSRC Grid, as well as the steps and goals developed over the last year by the SWMGC Task Team during the Pilot Project.

In addition to this first phase of learning, some decisions regarding the body itself were also made.   It was determined that going forward, this new 7-member body would go forward as the South West Public Safety Advisory Board (SWPSAB), and that it would incorporate to become a Non-Profit Corporation.   The inaugural meeting came to close with the group spending some time establishing the executive positions and determining the persons responsible.

This dynamic meeting merely represented the beginning of the new direction for Public Safety in the South West.  There is much work to be done and SWPSAB is off to a great start. Most Recently, the South West Public Safety Region Inc. (SWPSR) was incorporated as a non-profit organization under the Corporations Act of Saskatchewan on April 20, 2011.
